Scotland’s Alternative Youth Orchestra Restore Leith Theatre to Former Glory. Hundreds of young musicians from across Scotland perform their debut album in aid of a restoration project backed by Danny Boyle and Irvine Welsh. On June 4th the Tinderbox Orchestra will launch their debut album at the closing party of this year’s ‘Hidden Door’ festival, taking place in the old Leith Theatre. In the past this majestic space has played host to the likes of AC/DC and Kraftwerk, before falling into disrepair, and sitting dormant for 25 years.
Hidden Door have invited the Tinderbox Orchestra to headline the festival’s closing night, celebrating the release of their debut album ‘Tinderbox.’ Over 200 young musicians, aged 10 – 25 have joined forces with an international cast of collaborators from as far afield as China and the Balkans, to produce the album, many of whom will be appearing onstage this Sunday. The orchestra will also showcase new collaborations with special guest and Scottish Album of the Year Award winner Kathryn Joseph, who will also be performing solo.
